youfailme asked: I also lift and your blog has really inspired me to switch from a majorly animal protein based diet to a vegan based. Do you have any tips on how to get a good amount of protein when bulking off of a strictly vegan diet?

Legs 5x5 workout four. I had Toria coaching me for this session. I used a lighter weight with my squats so I got them a lot deeper and improved my form. Used a suitable weight for deadlifts. Lower back was aching a little bit from my hellish commutes back from college in the last few days.
All weights in kilograms.
Squats - 100x5x5
Deadlifts - 90x5x4, 100x5x1
Barbell lunges - 60x5x1, 70x5x1,...

The door supervision course has finished
I have just complete four days on a door supervision course which was free courtesy of my college. There were three days of theory and one day of physical intervention training. Learnt about what do if we find drugs and weapons, how to communicate effectively with customers and how to eject people from premises if need be. Our trainer was ex-military and hard as nails. Was all pretty cool.
Now I...

Legs 5x5 week three
Yet again I didn’t get much sleep and was in the gym at 7:15am so was feeling a little bit sluggish. The headphone output on my iPod has also decided to stop working which meant I had no heavy, fast-paced music to destroy my hearing with.
All weights are in kilograms.
Squats - 107.5x5x5
Deadlifts - 102.5x5x1, 102.5x2x1, 100x4x1, 80x5x2
Lunges - 65x5x5
Calf raises - 68x5x5
Still getting...

5x5 legs workout week two
I made the silly mistake of doing a back workout on Wednesday which meant my back wasn’t 100% fresh for this. This impacted my deadlifts immensely. The fact that I only got six hours sleep also played a major part in this too, I think. I was confident that I didn’t want to permanently damage my back so I went really light for the remaining four sets of deadlifts after I realised I...

Just finished my first 5x5 back and biceps workout. The pull ups and chin ups were done on a sketchy front door frame - not a bar. This is because I don’t want to pay through the teeth to go to the gym and it is actually better for gaining grip strength. Not long until the cross-beam snaps in half though especially as I’m adding weight in a backpack to my pull ups.
Weighted pull ups -...

My first chest, triceps & shoulders 5x5 session is...
This first workout was just to try and find what weights I should be lifting for each of my exercises. The results are a bit poor due to having a huge break in training and also being outside in the cold and dark. I was also with a housemate who isn’t always the most committed workout partner. Would hopefully get my workout finished a lot quicker without him.
Bench press - 5x5 with 75kg /...

My first ever 5x5 session
Just got back from the gym after completing the first session of my new training regime. I arrived at the gym at 8am to do legs. This was my first ever time properly training legs with any serious weight. I’m not sure whether these are good results for a beginner but I was pretty pleased with what I managed to achieve. I reckon I could do quite a bit more on the squats and a tad more on the...
