Back from a 44 mile ride in the countryside

It’s 26 degrees Celsius and super sunny today. Met up with a complete stranger and visited Stratford-upon-Avon, saw the highest point in Warwickshire and said hello to a wide range of animals. My lungs are now sore from the hot air and I have been working on my tan. Although, flying down a hill at over 35 mph without a tee on is pretty sketchy. I need to go on more adventures like this. They’re so invigorating. Time for some dates and grapes.

I’ve decided I’m riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats at the end of summer. It’s probably going to end up being just under 1000 miles of riding. Going to give myself two weeks to do it so I can explore as well as get the miles in. I will also be raising some money for a charity, or two, but am yet to decide which one.

The route I will be taking will probably be Land’s End, Exeter, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, the wilderness, Edinburgh, Dundee, the wilderness, Inverness and finally John O’Groats.

If anyone has any experience with this ride or lives along the route and would be willing to let me stay then please let me know. The more help the better!

Breakfast!

One litre of smoothie made up of water, dates, two bananas, organic pumpkin seeds, organic spirulina and cinnamon. Two bananas on the side just for bonus calories. So delicious.

This was my lunch today. It was tasty.

So, yesterday our team ‘Meat? We’d rather eat mud!’ completed the first ever Tough Mudder in the UK. Me and my teammate managed to get a time of 2 hours and 29 minutes for the 12 mile obstacle course fuelled on dates, bananas and spirulina. I’ve never even run that far in my entire life so I am surprised I managed to make it. I’m aching so much today though and even walking down the stairs is painful.

Really good day and amazing weather - we got lucky! The estate which the course was on was beautiful and gave us some good sights to take in as we went round. There were also a load of sheep and lambs to say hi to too. Will be signing up for the one next year very soon.

More photos and video to come!

Here’s a video of the racing at The Hunt criterium on Sunday. I’m in the second race and happen to be at the back of the pack in every shot even though I was leading for some of it. It was a lot faster than it looks in this video. My fastest timed lap was 2 minutes and 5 seconds which works out at an average speed of 27.6 mph over 0.96 miles. Look out for the crash in the background at around 2:45. In the final race I managed to get 13th place out of the 30 riders who started. My Team Vegan Supreme CGs team mate scored 9th place! So we got 13th and 9th out of a total of just over 64 riders. Really great day, if a bit cold. Looking forward to the next one.

The crit was fun. Here’s a shot of me in second.

I just received a death waiver to sign

Tough Mudder is next Sunday and as part of registration everyone has to sign a death waiver. This worries me slightly. Who cares though? Our team name is ‘Meat? We’d rather eat mud.’ Yes, I came up with that all on my own. It was nice knowing you all. Please don’t mope about in sorrow once I’m gone. Keep on causing positive change in the world! Oh, and give me a sky burial. Thanks.

£9.88 from my local green grocer. I forgot red cabbage and sweet potatoes though. I also ran out of space in my bag.
